At Westcliff we boast the best possible facilities for the full enjoyment of rugby footabll, both on and off the field.

Westcliff RFC is affiliated to the Rugby Football Union and Essex RFU and works hand-in-hand with both bodies to promote rugby at all age groups. Originally formed for ex-pupils of Westcliff High School, the Club membership has been open to anybody with an interest in rugby for decades.
Due to our long-term emphasis on Youth Rugby, WRFC was one of the first rugby Clubs in Essex to receive the RFU Seal of Approval for Community Rugby and is also a Club SX accredited Sports Club and has received the Sport England Clubmark.
With over 600 members, WRFC is one of the largest amateur sports Clubs in Essex. The Club is applying for approval as a Community Associated Sports Club (CASC) which will bring benefits in respect of the Business Rate and tax relief on donations.
CLUBHOUSE
Although the most important asset of WRFC is its members, the Club owns the Clubhouse built in 1985, subject to a long lease from Southend Council. The pitches are rented annually from the Council and are maintained by them.
The Club is responsible for raising all finance for the Clubhouse and for the development of rugby. It is registered as a Limited Company and also for VAT. Directors are elected at the annual AGM and they are responsible for the efficient management of the Club.
In practice, much is delegated to the two main sub-Committees – Youth and Senior Rugby. We rely heavily on the support of volunteers.
INCOME AND EXPENDITURE
The main income lines are:-
- Subscriptions
- Fund Raising
- Advertising & Sponsorship
- Management of the Clubhouse
The expenditure is much the same as for any small business with the additional costs of rugby. Audited accounts are provided each year as required by legislation.
